For many nostalgic fans of the PlayStation 2 era, Radical Entertainment’s The Simpsons: Hit And Run remains one of their most treasured gaming experiences. The video game tie-in of the popular cartoon is heralded as a beloved cult classic that many fans have been begging to see remade, and as it turns out, one of the significant figures in the production of the classic game agrees entirely.


Vlad Ceraldi, the former producer of The Simpsons: Hit And Run, spoke to LADbible recently about the classic game, its influence and, most interestingly, about whether it could return to consoles. "I could see it on multiple different types of platforms as a remake or remaster," Ceraldi stated, before tempering expectations by following with, "It would have to take the parties who are in charge of the property to want that to happen and someone out there to decide that they were going to go out and do it. But absolutely, it would be fun to explore those characters and that universe again, that work again."

While this is far from confirmation that The Simpsons: Hit And Run will see a long-anticipated re-release, it does show that interest in seeing the classic game remade for modern consoles extends beyond just the title’s fans. After a rumor made the rounds last E3 that a remake would be announced at the event, many were left disappointed when the game didn’t show. It will surely be comforting to those upset about the remake’s absence at E3 that the team behind the cult classic would also be excited to see the game receive the remake treatment.


Speaking on the long-lasting appeal of the game, Ceraldi went on to state, "I think it's a game that kids could play, adults could play, anyone who was fans of the show could try and laugh and have fun with." He went on to admit that the developers had even discussed the potential of a remake before, the team "talking about the idea of some of the magic that was captured and the potential ability to recapture it in a new way with a different audience, with a different generation of devices."


With The Simpsons on its way to Disney Plus when the streaming service launches, now may be a better time than ever to see the dysfunctional cartoon family's most well-received video game make a highly requested return. With Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy and Spyro: The Reignited Trilogy showing there’s a huge market for ground-up remakes, The Simpsons: Hit And Run could be the next classic video game to receive a HD touch-up.
