THQ Nordic has recently announced something special to whet the whistles of SpongeBob fans. As many may know, a remake of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is in the works, with the same 2020 release date announced at this year's E3. But those who plan on pre-ordering now have a few options to mull over. The game is getting two special collector's editions that are absolutely packed with some of the best goodies under the sea.

Both the Shiny Edition and the F.U.N edition are available for pre-order now, but each will carry a hefty pricetag. The Shiny Edition comes with an 8" SpongeBob figure with a flexible tongue and golden spatula, wall stickers, six lithographs, SpongeBob's signature tennis socks, and the game itself. Those interested Spongebob fans will need to throw down $149.99 for this edition.

The F.U.N Edition has much of the same, with just a few differences. It is packaged with the Spongebob Squarepants figure, but also comes with an 8" Sandy figure and 7" Patrick figure. It will include the lithographs, wall stickers, socks, a set of keyrings, and the game, and will cost $299.99. Both special editions are available for PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC.

Since Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is a remake and still in development, THQ Nordic has not been revealing a lot of footage from the game. In fact, the studio skipped E3 entirely this year, simply opting to announce the game instead. However, a couple months ago the company released over 12 minutes of Battle for Bikini Bottom gameplay that shows off the improved graphics. For fans curious to know what this classic title is like on a next-gen console, this is their best look yet. More of the game will likely be shown ahead of its release next year.

The title itself enjoyed very good reviews when it released back in 2003. Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated features an original storyline where the citizens of Bikini Bottom attempt to defend themselves from an invasion of robots created by Plankton. Players can take control of SpongeBob, Sandy, or Patrick as they navigate the wacky undersea world, encountering tons of familiar characters and references to some of the best SpongeBob SquarePants episodes ever.
