Remnant: From the Ashes is an ultra-tough Souls-like game with a heavy focus on co-op gameplay. The original version of Remnant provides plenty of challenge for players, but now the game has been updated with an even more challenging mode that will push even the best Remnant players to the limit.

Remnant: From the Ashes has added a new Hardcore Mode to celebrate the game selling 1 million units. The Remnant Hardcore Mode requires players to beat the game with only one life, which is something that very few players will likely accomplish in the game. The Remnant Hardcore Mode only lets players play online with other Hardcore Mode players, with no option for matchmaking. This may be a bit inconvenient for some, but the Hardcore Mode rewards may make it worth it in the long run.

Remnant will reward players for defeating bosses on Hardcore Mode, as they will drop special new rings with "powerful effects." Luckily, if players collect rings and their Hardcore Mode character dies, these items will still be available to use for the rest of the characters on a player's account. This even includes new Hardcore Mode characters, which gives the game an almost roguelike twist.

Hardcore Mode is likely to appeal to the most dedicated Remnant fans, but those who are looking for something a bit more manageable should note that even more content is in the works for the game. The developers have confirmed that Remnant will be getting more DLC throughout 2020, so there should be plenty for fans of the game to sink their teeth into in the new year.

This Hardcore Mode update isn't the first update that Remnant has received since launch. A previous Remnant update added a brand new dungeon for players to explore, with new story content along with an Adventure Mode. This update was well-received by fans, and there's no reason to believe why this new Hardcore Mode update won't be met with a similar response.

In the meantime, those who have yet to pull the trigger on Remnant may want to consider doing so now that the game has even more content than it did at launch. In our Remnant: From the Ashes review, we had high praise for the game, and it's definitely something fans of the Dark Souls series should try out.

Remnant: From the Ashes is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
