It's been a busy couple of months for Rainbow Six Siege, one of Ubisoft's biggest success stories following its sluggish launch back in 2015. This year, the game has been enjoying its fourth year of content with new operators and maps as well as in-game events like the Halloween flavored Doktor's Curse mode. This past weekend at the Japan Pro League Tournament, Ubisoft revealed the final Year 4 expansion and the two newest operators to join the massive roster.

The final season of Year 4 in Rainbow Six Siege is known as Operation Shifting Tides and introduces new attacker and defender classes to the game. The attacker class Kali hails from India comes equipped with the CSRX 300 bolt-action sniper rifle that is able to breach barricades in one hit or punch new holes in walls. However, this weapon also comes with an under-barrel gadget called the LV Explosive Lance which destroys all gadgets on both sides of breakable and reinforced surfaces.

On the other side is the defender Wamai from Kenya. His special gadget is called the Mag-NET System which is an item that can be stuck to most surfaces and essentially attracts enemy projectiles and detonates them. This not only neutralizes most grenades and enemy operator projectile gadgets, like Zofia's Lifeline ammo, but the detonation sequence could also turn the object against the enemy.

In addition to Kali and Wamai, this update will also introduce a completely reimaged and reworked Theme Park map. The arcade entrance has been barricaded off, moving the new entrance over to the newly added Gong Room. The east and west sections of the map have been moved closer together, the former bomb locations have been outright replaced, and the eastern indoors section of the map has largely changed.

Outside of that, Ubisoft has lowered the price for some of the older DLC operators like Echo and Dokkaebi and added a new limb penetration system to properly solve the bullet damage on penetration issue. Operation Shifting Tides hits the test server today for PC users with an actual release date to come once testing has wrapped up.

Rainbow Six Siege is available on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
