Pokemon Sword and Shield currently only have 400 Pokemon out of 899 available. However, it looks like the games may have more Pokemon added to them in the future. Dataminers have uncovered assets and code belonging to several different Pokemon that trainers can't currently interact with or catch.

Before Sword and Shield's release, Game Freak announced that not every Pokemon would make it into the games. At first, this didn't seem like a big deal until days before Sword and Shield's release, a leak of the Galar region Pokedex revealed that over 500 Pokemon got cut from the games.

From what dataminers have uncovered, however, some of these cut Pokemon might have made it in after all. There are over 30 different ones, and there are a few surprises among them. For starters, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and their entire evolutionary lines seem to have made it. The Pokemon community found itself in an uproar when it learned these Pokemon were cut because Charmander and its evolutions were added, which could only be explained by Charizard's popularity. The generation seven starters, Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio, were also found.

The rest of the uncovered Pokemon are all Legendary and Mythical. This group includes Mewtwo, Mew, Celebi, and Jirachi. Along with them are all four members of the Swords of Justice, meaning Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, and Keldeo. Also joining the party are the headliners of Sun and Moon, so Solgaleo, Lunala, their pre-evolved forms Cosmog and Cosmoem, and Necrozma. The Tao Trio of Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem made it too. Last but not least are the Mythical Pokemon Marshadow, Zeraora, and the Meltan evolutionary line.

Starter Pokemon and Legendary Pokemon were the most controversial cuts from Sword and Shield. Fans were understandably livid when they learned that every previous starter Pokemon aside from Charmander and his evolutionary line would not make an appearance. It didn't help that every Legendary and Mythical Pokemon aside from Silvally, and Sword and Shield originals like Zacian and Zamazenta, were also cut from the game.

Fans guess that these Pokemon will officially appear in the game as promotional material later on in its life, if they appear at all. Everything cut from Sword and Shield, like over 100 different moves, prevented it from receiving and all-around gracious welcome upon release. But if these discovered Pokemon do appear later on, hopefully, they'll ease tensions over a bit.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are available now on Nintendo Switch.
