Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot recently received a new visual for the upcoming action RPG, which follows online rumors of it getting a new box art. It seems that the original box art of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's Goku on Nimbus with an orange background was too simple for some, causing them to voice their concern over it. In response to this, Bandai Namco confirmed that a new visual was in the works, which some took to believe that the box art was getting replaced.

As it stands, though, there's little reason to believe this. There's certainly nothing confirmed about it, and this new visual could simply be a new visual for the game. Perhap it'll prove to be the back art of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot or even have something to do with one of the special editions, but for now, there's no way to know. Interestingly enough, before this art was revealed, it was said to feature Goku alongside a plethora of other characters. Many took this to mean other playable characters, but that's not the case.

This new Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot visual (as seen below) instead places Goku into the center and has him surrounded by various enemies found within the anime and the game. This includes the major Saga villains such as Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu, including the majority of their forms as well. Notably, even Majin Buu's gray, emaciated pure evil version makes the cut.

Then, there's even smaller, more minor villains that some may not immediately identify, such as Babidi's henchmen Yakon and Pui Pui, as well as Spopovich and Yamu. The visual also includes the Ginyu Force, but notably not the DBZ: Kakarot original character Bonyu, who was created for the sole purposes of this game. However, it's worth mentioning that it's unclear if she's completely friend or foe or somewhere in between in the game.

Regardless, how this image is used remains to be seen, but it certainly doesn't seem like box art. Many thought by the description that it would feature Goku backed by his friends, and it would be strange to have box art that featured villains in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, not heroes.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot releases January 17, 2020, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
