Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has not had a good time of it lately. The last major update worked more to sabotage the game than it did to help it. In response, Infinity Ward released a new patch yesterday in an attempt to rectify the problem, but once again, some things didn't work out as planned.

The community has had an issue with the spawn system in Modern Warfare for a while now. Instead of spawning players in tactical positions that they can use to collect themselves after being killed, the spawns instead tend to place players right back in the line of fire, getting them killed all over again. With this latest update, however, the spawn system just cuts out the middleman and kills the player itself in one of the most humorous ways possible.

Now when a player dies, they have a chance of being dropped out of the sky when respawning. They then die again when their character breaks against the ground below. Reddit user 7ofer posted a little montage of the new spawn system in action a day ago, and it’s already received over 9 thousand likes. He jokes that the spawn system was finally addressed only to be made worse in his title. At least being spawn killed in this fashion is a little bit more entertaining, though.

The comments to the post only make the whole situation that much more hilarious. One commenter suggested that someone make a new montage of the spawn system killing players to the tune of “It’s Raining Men.” Another suggested “Bodies” (let the bodies hit let the floor), as both songs are honestly about the same thing, just from drastically different points of view. Another good choice was "Free Fallin'."

The new bug isn’t a welcome addition, of course, but it is nice that some fans can find humor in the problems running rampant across Modern Warfare right now (even if it is to laugh to keep from crying). The tension between the community and Infinity Ward has been rather high lately, and it mainly stems from what feels like a lack of attention to the problems players want to see patched out of the game (and the random addition of new ones). Modern Warfare has a history of fumbled patches, but hopefully, Infinity Ward will be able to repair the game without adding issues next time.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
