Mortal Kombat 11 earned a mostly positive response from the community, but there were those who were upset about some missing characters. The lack of Reptile definitely drummed up some controversy, but Mileena not being in the game seems to have drawn the most ire from Mortal Kombat fans. Mortal Kombat 11 game director Ed Boon has had some fun with Mileena since the game's launch by trolling them on Twitter, and there's no indication that he will be stopping anytime soon.

Responding to a fan expressing their excitement over the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 Sindel DLC, Boon said, "Yea, me too... Mileena's gonna rock!" This is clearly a joke about the controversy of Mileena not being on the Mortal Kombat 11 roster, and how some fans have been genuinely upset about her exclusion.

While Mileena isn't on the current Mortal Kombat 11 roster, there are those who hold out hope that she will one day be added as a DLC fighter. Some leaks and datamines have pointed to more Mortal Kombat 11 DLC characters coming after Spawn is added to the game in March, though nothing official has been confirmed at this time. But even if NetherRealm does add more characters to Mortal Kombat 11 after it adds Spawn, it seems unlikely that Mileena will be a part of the lineup.

The list of leaked Mortal Kombat 11 DLC fighters, which proved to be largely accurate, does not mention Mileena. Furthermore, there are numerous instances where Mortal Kombat 11 characters reference Mileena's demise in Mortal Kombat X, and those lines of dialogue would feel weirdly out of place if Mileena was eventually added to the game.

Then again, it's clear that NetherRealm is aware of how many Mortal Kombat 11 fans want to see Mileena come to the popular fighting game. Considering this, maybe the studio will be convinced to add Mileena as DLC. Or maybe it will instead save Mileena's return for the inevitable Mortal Kombat 12 that will likely release in a few years or so.

Whatever the case may be, Mortal Kombat 11 fans still have a few new DLC characters to look forward to. Sindel is coming to the game on November 26, and The Joker will be added in January. Spawn is coming in March, as previously mentioned, and evidence points to more characters coming after that. Whether one of those characters is Mileena or not remains to be seen.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, Stadia, and Xbox One.
