Capcom is finally letting the monster loose, so to speak, for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne's next major content patch. Capcom's previously confirmed that Monster Hunter World: Iceborne would receive another content update featuring a brand new monster during 2019. That monster is now confirmed to be Stygian Zinogre, an endgame encounter that should challenge the strongest of Monster Hunter World players. Expect Stygian Zinogre to launch on December 5.

This won't be Stygian Zinogre's first appearance in the Monster Hunter franchise, though the monster has certainly received a visual upgrade to its previous appearances. Stygian Zinogre first appeared in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, with reappearances in Monster Hunter 4 and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Throughout every game, this Fanged Wyvern, an upgrade of the standard Zinogre, has been adorned with a glowing red effect related to its Dragon-Element damage. The creature, fittingly, is found in tundra/volcano regions.

There's relatively little information regarding the update coming December 5 beyond the inclusion of Stygian Zinogre itself. The monster will be part of a bigger update including a new region within the Guiding Lands. Capcom simply decided to tease the biggest part of the update via an impressive teaser trailer instead. For Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players hoping for more information, Capcom has scheduled its next developer diary for December 4.

While perhaps unrelated to the December 5 update for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, Capcom teased two other things related to the game over the past day. The first thing is Iceborne's first seasonal event, which will be the Chinese New Year. Capcom released a photo showing decorations and new cosmetics for the event. The second teaser is a photo of what some Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players believe to be a new Elder Dragon. These two content updates will likely come after the December 5 update.

Support for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne continues to go strong following the expansion's launch in September on both PS4 and Xbox One. Stygian Zinogre will be the second monster update for Iceborne, following the Rajang update released in early October. And there's clearly plenty of more content coming down the pipeline. There's also Monster Hunter World: Iceborne's release on PC to look forward to, which won't arrive until early January.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is available now on PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC release to follow in 2020.
