Prior to today, it was confirmed that Crystal Dynamics' Marvel's Avengers would feature Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Black Widow, with Ant-Man appearing as DLC. The very idea of free post-launch characters was a major draw for many, but it seems that the core members of the Avengers aren't the only ones appearing at launch. In a new trailer released at NYCC 2019, it was confirmed that Kamala Khan, better known to many as Ms. Marvel, will be a playable character from the get-go.

This may come as little surprise, especially given that her addition was teased back in July, but it's nice to know that she'll be available at launch and central to the story. The trailer (as seen below) confirms that Kamala Khan becomes an Inhuman as a result of A-Day and the central antagonists, AIM, in Marvel's Avengers. Not only does it give a glimpse at her role in the story, but it shows a little gameplay and her special elastic, morphogenic abilities.

Later gameplay shows her in her iconic Ms. Marvel suit, and it opens up the possibility of other Inhuman characters joining the original Marvel's Avengers story such as Black Bolt, Jailer, Quake, Ulysses, Flint, Medusa, Gorgon, or maybe even Lockjaw. It's unsure how some of these characters would be handled, especially those traditionally ascribed to the royal family, but it's an interesting possibility nevertheless.

Marvel's Avengers is still a few months away from launch, and it's clear that it's trying to establish itself. After the character design backlash, it's recently changed the looks of Thor and Black Widow, and with this addition of Kamala Khan, it certainly seems like the developer is taking steps in the right direction.

Marvel fans will likely have to wait for her "Hero Week" to learn more about the character and her heroic abilities in Marvel's Avengers, or if the character eventually dons the Ms. Marvel costume. Hopefully, this latest trailer keeps players tided over in the meantime.

Marvel's Avengers releases May 15, 2020 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
