Over the past several months, Wizards of the Coast has looked to keep Magic: The Gathering fans of all varieties engaged by announcing a myriad of new and exciting products. These products include the recently-revealed Magic: The Gathering Mystery Boosters, a series of Commander-focused offerings, and four standard sets that will be releasing in 2020. However, it appears that Wizards is still not done with new product announcements, as the developer is now teasing something it calls "Secret Lair."

The preliminary Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair tease comes by way of a tweet from the official MTG Twitter account, and it consists of a very brief video. This video features the words "Secret Lair Drop Series" emblazoned, next to a Planeswalker logo, on what appears to be the side of a deck box, and this box eventually cracks open to reveal that there is a bright light shining inside of it. The video comes to a prompt end quickly thereafter.

Certainly, this brief video offers very little in the way of details on Magic: The Gathering's Secret Lair, but a followup tweet does provide a bit more for fans to chew on. Specifically, it is stated that this product is not a booster, but "it is a lair," which the tweet defines as "a premade box just for you and the very particular things you love about Magic." This statement has led to no small amount of speculation among the playerbase, but nothing further has been officially confirmed at this time.

Fortunately, that will not be the case for much longer, as Wizards of the Coast has announced that details on Secret Lair will be revealed on Monday, November 25. This means that players only have a few days to wait before learning more about this mysterious new product, and time will tell if it is able to live up to the lofty assertions outlined above.

There is one thing that can be said with certainty now, though, and that is that Magic: The Gathering's second 2020 set will be called Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths. Perhaps then there is some connection between Secret Lair and that forthcoming set, but that should not be considered definitive prior to official word from Wizards.

The Magic: The Gathering Throne of Eldraine expansion set is available now.
