Fans of Square Enix's classic Final Fantasy series got some big news during XO19. Not one, not two, but ten titles of the Final Fantasy series will be making their ways to Xbox Game Pass next year.

Many of the later games of the Final Fantasy series, including Final Fantasy 15, will be available on the Xbox Games Pass next year. This is in addition to the other big Square news that the entirety of the Kingdom Hearts series will be making its way to Xbox.

Developers from Square Enix, Shinji Hashimoto and Ichiro Hazama, came on stage during XO19 to reveal that a lot of Final Fantasy titles are making their way to the Xbox Game Pass. Ten of them, in fact! The full is of games can be found below. Note that Final Fantasy 7 on this list is not the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

  • Final Fantasy 7
  • Final Fantasy 8
  • Final Fantasy 9
  • Final Fantasy 10
  • Final Fantasy 10-2
  • Final Fantasy 12
  • Final Fantasy 13
  • Final Fantasy 13-2
  • Final Fantasy: Lightning Returns
  • Final Fantasy 15

Most of these titles are available for purchase on Xbox already, whether that would be as a separate retail release or through Xbox 360 backwards compatibility. However, this means that players that are subscribed to the Xbox Game Pass will be able to enjoy almost all of Final Fantasy's recent history without having to buy each title separately, which can add up quickly! It does seem unlikely that all of these titles will be released on the Xbox Game Pass at the same time, but needless to say, RPG fans are going to be extremely busy next year.

This list is missing two more recent Final Fantasy titles, however: Final Fantasy 11 and Final Fantasy 14. Final Fantasy 14, in particular, is a popular title with PlayStation 4 and PC players, but the fact that it's an MMO can lead to problems with porting it. It looks like Chinese Xbox users won't have to indulge in a ton of fried chicken for Final Fantasy 14.

While this isn't every mainline Final Fantasy title, there's a great spread of titles coming to the Xbox Game Pass. Some of them are even some of the best, based on Metacritic's scores of Square Enix games.

The Final Fantasy titles will be available on the Xbox Game Pass in 2020. Most of these titles are available on other systems, including PC, PS4, and Switch. Additionally, the games themselves can be bought on Xbox One, separate from the Game Pass.
