A new glimpse at Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has made its way online, and it centers on showcasing Goku's most powerful transformation of the DBZ era. The latest released footage depicts the iconic scene between Goku, Fat Buu, and Babidi, where Goku shows off and explains all the Super Saiyan transformations known to Saiyans at that point. And, of course, just like it did in the show, the scene ends with Goku transforming into the famous Super Saiyan 3.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an upcoming RPG that prides itself on remaining as "true to the show" as possible. But from the looks of recent trailers and gameplay showings, the game is not so rigid that it won't make certain aspects and moments of the show more dramatic and stylish than they originally were. However, the final transformation of Super Saiyan 3 Goku remains faithful, but perhaps more so to the manga than the anime.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot seems to have opted for the manga version of Goku's Super Saiyan 3 transformation rather than the anime's. Like the manga, the in-game version of this scene shows off Goku with his arms bent and his stance slightly leaning, and the time it takes for Goku to transform is a lot shorter.

Getting the player back into the action of the game as soon as possible could be one reason the cutscene is so short. Had CyberConnect2 and Bandai Namco gone with the anime adaption, it would have gone on longer and perhaps shown the world cracking under his power. It still could, though, so it remains to be seen how this entire transformation takes place.

Fans of the franchise who are unimpressed can easily refer to some of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's Majin Vegeta gameplay to infer that there's going to be more here than meets the eye. It's possible that the striking visuals related to Super Saiyan 3 Goku are being saved for his actual gameplay.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is set to release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on January 17, 2020.
