With the launch of Destiny 2's newest raid, Garden of Salvation, an extremely powerful exotic trace rifle was added to Bungie's looter shooter. Called Divinity, this Destiny 2 exotic trace rifle is a unique offering, applying a debuff that boosts the damage dealt by a player's fireteam against the debuffed target. Unfortunately, it appears that there may be a problem with this new weapon, as reports suggest that Destiny 2's Divinity exotic trace rifle is crashing players' games.

On the official Destiny 2 subreddit, a number of threads have appeared since the release of Garden of Salvation and the introduction of the Divinity trace rifle. All of these threads suggest that, when used in Crucible, Divinity has the potential to lead to game crashes. Moreover, these Destiny 2 crashes are apparently not only occurring for players that are wielding the new exotic trace rifle, as fans report that the weapon has the potential to crash other players' games as well.

This is leading some players to suggest that the Divinity raid trace rifle is being used to intentionally cause crashes inside of Destiny 2's Crucible game modes. While the fan that is firing Divinity does have the potential to crash as well, and it can thus not be used as a consistent way for these Guardians to gain an advantage in PvP, certain players may purposefully exploit this bug simply to disrupt and irritate others that are trying to enjoy the game.

Even if the majority of these crashes are not being deliberately caused, the issue still stands, and some players are calling for the developer to disable the Destiny 2 Garden of Salvation exotic trace rifle until the problem has been resolved. On Thursday, Bungie's community manager wrote on Reddit that the bug is being investigated, which may mean that official word on the matter will be coming in short order.

Exactly what that word will be is likely to depend on how complex it is to resolve the bug with the Destiny 2 Divinity trace rifle. Fortunately, if the gun does need to be temporarily disabled, there are a bevy of new Destiny 2 Vex Offensive weapons for players to occupy themselves with during that time.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
