Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's release is rapidly approaching and is set to refresh the Call of Duty franchise in several ways. However, the game was bound to be demanding for PC and consoles alike and given recent specs found on the Xbox One Store, it seems that the download size confirms this suspicion.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's specs on PC were revealed a while ago, giving onlookers a preview of all that the game will entail when downloading it. Upon viewing the specs, they found that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare requires a minimum of 175GB of storage available for its download.

That had given at least PC players some perspective on what to expect from the size of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare but nothing surefire for console users. However, the Xbox One Store has now confirmed that the "approximate size" of the game is 137.66GB.

The game can be preloaded on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, though it is currently live exclusively on Xbox One. For those who decide to go down the preload route, the game will be preloaded in "packs," including the Multiplayer Pack, two Campaign Packs, and two Special Ops Packs. PlayStation 4 owners also get to preload the Survival Pack, which Call of Duty fans were not happy with.

The install size for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare appears to be something to be reckoned with. Furthermore, depending on the console iteration one owns, it could easily take up more than 20% of the console's hard drive. Prior to this game's release, one of the largest console download sizes on record had belonged to Red Dead Redemption 2's download size, which was 99GB on PlayStation 4 and 107GB on Xbox One, barring future content that had yet to be installed.

As such, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare easily blows past the competition with its file size. For those who have pre-ordered the game on any platform, it would be suggested to preload the game's different packs ahead of time so that the game can be played as soon as possible come the game's release next week.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be releasing October 25, 2019, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
