Rumors continue to spread that Rockstar may be working on a sequel to its 2006 game Bully, yet despite these rumors, the existence of Bully 2 has remained a complete mystery. Rockstar's is likely working on the next huge game to follow Red Dead Redemption 2, but whether it's Bully 2 or Grand Theft Auto 6 or both remains a matter of speculation. In the midst of all the swirling rumors, some interesting details about Bully 2, or what could have been Bully 2, have surfaced.


First things first, these new rumors are unrelated to the ones regarding the potential current development of Bully 2. Those rumors are unique and whether they're accurate or not have no ties to these new rumors. The new rumor claims that Bully 2 did exist -- in the early 2010s. According to anonymous imgs, Rockstar started working on Bully 2 more than 10 years ago, but that development ultimately "fizzled out" sometime before 2013.



According to information from two different anonymous imgs, Rockstar's co-founder Dan Houser and his team wrote a script for Bully 2 all the way back in 2008. That's just two years after the release of Bully and around the same window as the release of both Bully: Scholarship Edition and Grand Theft Auto 4. Rockstar New England, which worked on both those projects, is said to have picked up work on Bully 2 after 2010.


The rumor goes on that, over the course of 18 months, Rockstar New England put together a vertical slice demo of their idea for Bully 2. This demo was built on Rockstar's in-house engine and even featured some open-world gameplay. That, however, is the end of the story. Rockstar New England has since focused its efforts on major Rockstar Studios projects including major Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption.





It's certainly within reason for these Bully 2 development rumors to be true. Prior to 2010, it was common for all of Rockstar's satellite studios to work on their own projects. It was also around 2013, when Grand Theft Auto 5 was released, that Rockstar pulled its satellite studios into a more focused and cohesive structure. And in the process stopped working on the variety of projects it had before.


In the meantime, the possibility of a new Bully 2 game or a Bully remaster grows all the more interesting. There's clearly interest within Rockstar to bring Bully back, and these new rumors insinuate that there's preproduction material that could make launching a new Bully project that much easier. It's a rough situation for fans, knowing that Bully might be in Rockstar's plans for a sequel, but not having the pedigree of a Grand Theft Auto or Red Dead Redemption. Rockstar could very well simply be done with Bully.


Until Rockstar opens up about its future plans, the modern state of Bully and a potential Bully 2 remain rumor and nothing more.
