Gamers who are currently active in the military or those who have achieved veteran status may be pleased to learn that they can currently get a variety of Steam games for free. This is offered through the Games to Grunts initiative via Operation Supply Drop (OSD), with fighting games Tekken 7 and Soul Calibur 6 currently topping those games available, but there appears to be some limitation to how many copies of what can be claimed.

To get these Steam games for free, military personnel will need to navigate to and create an account on Games to Grunts using military ID. It's worth mentioning that this Games to Grunts program isn't just limited to Steam, as there are currently unavailable Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass subscriptions listed on the site, but that the majority of available games, Indie or otherwise, are for Steam.

Beyond Tekken 7 and Soul Calibur 6, players can also get their hands on Air Conflicts: Secret War, Star Traders: Frontiers, Insurgency, World of Tanks, and many more. Check out the full catalog of available Steam games here. Even for military who do not enjoy PC gaming, this program is something to check into as perhaps it will expand into more console territory in the future.

Notably, as seen above, the majority of these free games are Indie titles, meaning this could prove to be hit or miss for some, but it also highlights how big of a get for the program that Tekken 7 and Soul Calibur 6 are. Both fighting games are the latest in their respective franchises and received a warm welcome from critics and fans alike. Maybe this program will even see involvement from other gaming giants, even if it remains locked to PC, since Xbox's Gears of War 5 is currently available on Steam.

The popularity of the platform, as well as the recent changes it has been making, still make it a great storefront for PC fans. Destiny 2's Shadowkeep expansion, for example, is currently the best-selling game on Steam, but alas, it is not available through Games for Grunts.
